One More Charity Show... For Marita

 

When we announced our last charity show, we genuinely thought

it would be our final one. In fact, I had already used up most of

the spare rosettes from previous events because I was convinced

we were finished.

 

As it turns out, our retirement lasted all of two days!

 

The reason we're back is simple: Marita.

 

After our last show, we all headed to the pub and, as

conversations flowed, our secretary Marita suggested that

perhaps we should hold one more charity event.

 

Anyone who knows Marita will not be surprised that she was

thinking about raising money for others rather than herself. Eight

years ago, Marita was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given

approximately 18 months to live. Following treatment for breast

cancer, she faced secondary liver and bone metastases, and later

underwent surgery to remove a brain metastasis. Throughout it

all, she has never complained. Not once. Instead, she has

continued to support others, raise money for charity, organise

events, encourage everyone around her and, quite frankly, amaze

us all with her determination.

 

Not content with everything she has already overcome, Marita

also took up running since her diagnosis. She took part in a 10K

in April, a half marathon in May, has jumped off buildings and

done plenty more crazy stuff to raise money for charity - to date

she has raised over £20,000 - all in support of charities that have

supported her throughout her medical journey.

 

So..... this extra show is for her. All proceeds from the event will

go to Marita's chosen charity - "Make 2nds Count" - helping to

support the incredible work that means so much to her.

 

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a very special

day. Your support will help us celebrate the most extraordinary,

kind lady,  who continues to inspire everyone around her.
